NEW ADULT CLASSES

Using Borosilicate Glass Flameworking
to make Glass Pendants

pendant4_webThis three-hour class offers an introduction to working with borosilicate glass (pyrex) through the creation of pendants made on a torch. Basic studio safety and equipment, tools and materials will be discussed, along with the unique properties of borosilicate glass. Borosilicate is considered a hard-glass, having a high melting point, and a high resistance to thermal shock, making it a very durable and user-friendly glass. We will use these properties to create pendants with a pulled loop. Students will focus on basic glassworking techniques, shaping the glass using gravity and graphite tools, and applications of color. Upon completion of this class, you will have a broader understanding of working with glass, and will have created several borosilicate glass pendants. The class fee is $75 and includes supplies.
